Hotel the Exchange presents a punchy mix of eclectic fashion and design to the heart of Amsterdam.Based on the concept of a ‘hotel with rooms dressed as models,’ every room is clothed in a distinct look, say designers Otto Nan and Suzanne Oxenaar. They collaborated with eight students from theAmsterdam Fashion Instituteto transform fashion metaphors into dolled-up accommodations. Each room has a unique décor inspired by past and present fashions, the wardrobes of icons and historical styles.
Extravagant items like 20-m-long necklaces can be found throughout the hotel; room designs range from a crinoline dream to an 1980s rainbow.Located in an alley between fast-food vendors on one of Amsterdam’s main streets, the hotel reflects the city’s mix of grunge and elegance.
Hotel guests can choose rooms ranging from one to five stars, all in the same building. They hotel was completed in collaboration with the Audax Textielmuseum Tilburg, fabric design from Studio INA MATT and tiles by Royal Mosa.
