Art Basel Miami Beach under vandals attack

"I believe this attack on a piece of art is not an affront to a personal artist, rather an attack on art itself. I'm afraid for all art works in town this week." With these words Havi Schanz has commented the fact that someone painted blood red tears on his Marilyn Monroe/James Dean installation located on 13th & Collins Avenue in Miami Beach for the Art Basel Miami Beach (from 6 until 9 December 2013).
Every year, the art world turns out en masse in Miami to see and be seen by the biggest names in the business.  In 2012  the affair is bigger than ever.  Galleries hail from 31 countries and five continents (no dealers from Australia or Antarctica this year), and 77 will come to town from New York, accounting for about 30 percent of participants. More than 250 leading galleries will present works by over 2,000 artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.
This incredible art show is always more in the public eye and it’s always more necessary to take precautions against vandals, who become every year more aggressive.
