Harmonic Motion by Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam

The artwork appears as a big and colourful suspended and interactive playground, made and plaited entirely by hand, combining ropes of different colours in contemporary forms with a traditional flavour recalling antique lace work. A playful installation, a textile sculpture, a work of art to be discovered and experienced so as to actively involve the public, inviting them to become part of the installation, completing it and “lightening” the artwork through movement and discovery energy. The artwork can be experienced by a public of all ages, adults and children, with a particular focus on the youngest, as the artist, both in her previous works and in conceiving this one, has always dedicated a special attention to stimulate their educational experience.

Harmonic Motion is thus simultaneously a work of art, aerial sculpture, playground, colourful installation in which visitors can go into, climb, jump, move from one level to another, swing, and roll around thanks to energy waves created through the public’s movements on the tense woven net-surface.
