Is Catuma the new generation of eyewear design
Design meets craftsmanship, art and natural materials in an exclusive cutting edge eyewear collection.
Stone, cork, wood and linen are the materials on which is based the sunglasses and eyeglasses Catuma collection. The brand was born from the vision and the incessant search of Vincenzo Pastore and the creativity of the designer Vincenzo Nesta, two men born in Puglia pursuing perfection and innovation in continuous evolution. The result is a collection without boundaries, where the eyeglasses and sunglasses are protagonists of an endless game of combinations of styles and materials, which can be mixed together and change countless times, thanks to the ongoing study on them by designers. The Catuma collection sees for the first time in the history of the glasses production, the use of materials symbol of craftsmanship: wood and stone. Woods such as wengè, zebrano, walnut, ash, birch and maple are expertly matched to different shades of granite and slate. Each pair of glasses is made of seven different layers of very thin wood, the last of which in a clear color contrast. The final layer is in stone, while the arms terminals are made of cork, to be adaptable to all face types. In certain women models, in addition, the arms are formed by an elegant mosaic of woods, stylistic choice that gives dynamism to the accessory, harmonizing it with the colors of the stones and matching with the different styles of the wearer. The special “multi-layer” process makes materials associated with heaviness and rigidity like wood and stone, light and malleable, and separate them from their use in furniture to ensure their triumphal entry into world of fashion and exclusivity. Linen is instead the soul of another line of Catuma glasses: multiple layers of this ultra-natural fiber are pressed and subsequently soaked in biodegradable resin, which makes the fabric rigid and shaped. The extremely light structure of the glasses can be declined in denim, bouclè, brocade, lurex, vintage fabrics, cork, always different, no one equal to another, because they all recycled materials, a choice that reflects the mission of Catuma to be sustainable.
