Speaking of Design

Turin, only Italian city with the title of UNESCO "Creative City for Design", offers a program of events in 2016 dedicated to design. Let's start with the exhibition that takes us back in time, in the 60s. Until to 28 February 2016, the GAM Museum is hosting the exhibition “The merchant of clouds. Studio65: fifty years of future”, the first monographic focused on the great collective of Italian Pop Design.

And on this occasion for the first time are being shown the projects and objects of Studio65, many of them produced by the historic brand Gufram (Gufram site): the emblematic Bocca sofa of 1970 (also with a preview of a new special limited edition), the Capitello seat, the Attica chair and the Attica TL occasional table (designed in 1972), objects that tell the story of a generation, of the transformation of the world from industrial to post-industrial.

Also presented are lesser known creations but with a deep conceptual meaning, such as the Leonardo sofa, the Colonna Sonora cabinet, the Mela del Peccato seat. The exhibition has been conceived as a virtual urban project, with streets and piazzas along the display route, because the exhibition aims not only to tell of the path of the group of artists and architects of this movement but also the events of a generation, characterised by the strong value of collective experience that brought about historical changes.
